Matt O'Malley

Matt O’Malley is a seventh-generation Southeast Kansan born and raised in Pittsburg. He has worked on a wide variety of food systems projects including community gardens, high tunnels, food pantries, nutrition education, community kitchens, SNAP outreach, USDA Commodities, and more. He served as the Chair of the Eat Well Food Policy Council from 2019-2021 and is a member of the Kansas Food Action Network. Matt recently served in a two-year role with the Civic Engagement Advisory Committee at the Kansas Leadership Center before being named one of their Civic Facilitator Fellows. He enjoys staying active in his community, serving as the Past President of the Pittsburg Area Young Professionals and as a member of several community organizations including Pittsburg Beautiful and the Pittsburg Noon Rotary Club. He is a proud alum of both Pittsburg State University and the AmeriCorps VISTA program. Matt and his wife, Lacy, have two boys. Together they like to read, do arts and crafts, go to parks, and play with dinosaurs. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, golfing, and volunteering.
